Go SHARKS Go

The Sharks are in the playoffs again this year … last year Mike and I went to the Avs vs. Sharks playoff game at HP Pavilion while very pregnant with David. He LOVED the bass of the music during the stoppage’s in play. Man was I sore the next day. This time around … the Sharks in the playoffs is just as exciting … it’s been a great year in Bay Area sports … GO SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!

(Update: Ultimately … the Sharks lost to the Vancouver Canucks who lost the whole shebang to the Boston Bruins)

First walk around Lafayette as a family …

Today we got up and headed out to Lafayette Reservoir for a family walk. It was a brisk morning but it sure was beautiful. David of course LOVED seeing the dogs on the trail and Mike and I enjoyed getting a chance to get some exercise and chat. Afterwards, we headed out to a burger joint in Walnut Creek that’s been highly touted and got a deal for. Umm yumm. Needless to say, all 3 of us truly enjoyed our meal at The Counter. Afterwards, we wandered through the streets of downtown Walnut Creek as there was an Arts and Crafts fair taking place. Such a great weekend with the boys.

Presenting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Last night, history was made. The whole world avidly watched as the future king of England married the love of his life. Prince William married his college sweetheart, Kate Middleton and the wedding festivities began at midnight Pacific Standard Time. Needless to say, I wanted to watch the “real thing” and not simply see the recap videos afterwards so that meant that I was up until the wee hours of the morning. I finally went to sleep around 5am but before the first official “kiss” on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as is tradition. But I got to see all the pomp and circumstance of the ceremony and even when Prince William made a cute remark to Kate and her father as they arrived to the altar “and this was supposed to be a small affair”. She looked AMAZING and he looked striking in his Scottish troupe regalia (although Mike liked Jay Leno’s reference to him looking like Capt Crunch :P). Although I was exhausted the next few days because of staying up, I’m so glad I did. So many big things happened within David’s first year of his life.

The NFL Draft …

With the lockout looming the draft kind of crept up on us. But we watched most of the first round and parts of those after in order to see what the Broncos and Niners did. The funniest thing … I was hoping that Elway and the Broncos DIDN’T pick a quarterback but hoped that the Niners did. HAHAHA … we really want to make sure that David gets to wear his Tim Tebow Bronco jersey this coming season and we’re not really looking forward to another Alex Smith season with the Niners. Got the cutest photo of David too … it almost looks like he’s praying … HAHAHAHAHA

High-Five!!

David is really on a roll. Learning how to clap … and now I’ve got him giving high-fives. Well … it’s more like a high-touch but he does it in response to “David, give me a high-five”. I’m sure one day he’ll truly slap our hands but until then, it’s a gentle press of his hand onto yours.

Yea!!! (clap clap clap)

Not only was it Easter Sunday … but Grandma Bunny taught David how to clap!! We’ve been trying to get him to do it for weeks now but something she did clicked for him and now he’s a clapping fool. It’s so cute … all you have to do is say “YEA” and he starts clapping. LOVE!!!

We were supposed to head to Tracy to be with the Trovato’s/Ormonde’s for the day but unfortunately, several of them got sick right before the holiday, so a quick change of plans and we headed to Concord to hang with the Zachary’s/Hammond’s. We love spending the holiday’s with this group of crazy kids and this time was no different. Of course as usual, there was a TON of food and yummy wine but what was even best … an Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddo’s!! David actually participated a bit in that we’d search and bend down/up for him to grab. He did such a great job. Came home with some change to add to his Giraffe, some stickers to play with when he gets older and other fun trinkets. The rest of the kids, Lily, Ruby and Chase were having so much fun finding the eggs. They were ALL over the small backyard and there were SO many.

Such a great day with friends … and a new “trick” … always something fun around the next bend with David in tow …

Pleasanton Farmer’s Market …

Today we met up with Jaime, Josh and Lucas Kaufman at the Pleasanton Farmer’s Market. Found some yummy’s like we always do and even stopped for some ice cream. As we wandered back to our car we stopped at a cute little park and took some photos. The last few days have been wonderful since Mike has been so busy with work and was able to take some time off. He’s been missing David a lot lately so it was definitely needed. And to boot … it’s Easter Weekend!!

Easter Bunny … check

Mike had the day off so we headed over to the mall to get David’s picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Fortunately we waited in line for a few minutes so David got to see other kids sitting with the Easter Bunny and see them all be happy and loving it (all pre-school and kindergarten aged kids). So when we put him on the Easter Bunny’s lap he wasn’t scared … but he also wasn’t so sure either. We didn’t get a smile out of him until the end (when of course they only take like 4 pictures) but at least he wasn’t crying. HAHAHA!!! But the photo we got is still too cute regardless …

Finally heading to Redding, CA with David …

The Price grandparents came into town to see David and Grandpa Price’s family in Redding. It’s a quick trip for us but it’s so necessary. I haven’t seen my aunt and uncle in over a year and this was the first time they got to meet David!! We also got to meet Avery too … Packer and Vanessa’s son. He’s such a cutie and both David and Avery were trying to figure each other out. We got to see Amanda, Elizabeth, Aunt Judy and even Aunt Kathy and Grandma Price (Great Grandma Price to David). She was very happy to meet her newest great grandchild as well as a chance to spend time with my dad. The boys, Packer and Mike, went down to the lake to fish for a few minutes while the rest of the girls went to the park with the little ones to swing and go down the slide. It was nice just to spend a moment with the family and show off David.

Ready for baseball season …

David and I are ready for baseball season … even though the beginning is slow moving and whoever is in first now doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re in the lead at the end of the show. But it means that summer is just around the corner and in this house … we’re ready. But in the meantime … there is still debate about who we’re rooting for. Mama is still a mixed nut … rooting for the Giants AND the Rockies. Daddy isn’t too sure since he doesn’t even know who is playing on his A’s. So needless to say … David has Giants and Rockies gear. Bring it on … we can’t wait to go to a game!!

Crawling for the first time …

I had to leave David with Grandma and Grandpa Civello for the day and well wouldn’t you know … he crawled. They enticed him with the cordless phone but it was so stinkin’ cute. He’s army crawling as well and that’s getting LOTS faster. But now he’s actually on all fours and rocking and rolling … err crawling. You can see him concentrate on it so hard … it’s so cute!! Also … he sticks his one foot flat on the floor, then drags the other knee instead of crawling on his knees. You can see him pause and go to lift to stand up. Wonder if he’ll walk soon … he LOVES standing and has forever. Only time will tell. But in the meantime; we’re so proud ……

Warming up to sing?

David has been blowing raspberries with his lips for a about 2 weeks now and I finally caught it with the camera!! It's so cute and he LOVES doing it ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mQjSwa_MAg

We've got a pitcher on our hands ...

David is starting to understand how to throw things. Great for playing catch with dad ... not great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. LOL!!! Mike and I have been trying to show him off and on for a few weeks now and it's starting to click for him. It's so fun to watch things click for him!!!!

Before we know it ... he'll be throwing the ball back and forth with Mike and even Lucas!!!

Guess who is 9 months old!!!

David had his 9 month check up today with Dr. Yu and got flying colors!!!! Dr. Yu was really pleased with how he looks and his development. Happy to see his 5 teeth and said his gums look really healthy and pink. Ears, nose and throat are nice and clear. Loves that he says mama, dada (indescriminately), car (but only after hanging out with Lucas) and was even trying to imitate me saying duck just the day before and even more importantly that he babbles multiple times a day. Holding food in BOTH hands at the same time, banging toys together, picking food up with his finger and thumb, eating only table foods with the exception of the periodic puree that I can ONLY squeeze into his mouth. Sleeping thru the night from 8pm to 7:30-8am plus a ~2hr morning nap and afternoon cat nap. And loves that he's scooting and trying to pull to stand and standing so well PLUS walking with mom and dad. Here are his stats:

Height: 29" (75%)
Weight: 19lbs 13.8oz (50%)

I'm a little concerned about my evening nursing but Dr. Yu thinks it's more likely that David just LOVES eating solids so that he's less interested in nursing at night since he's nursing well during the day. But he's also doing really well drinking water throughout the day and absolutely LOVES his Nuby sippy straw cup. Thanks Lucas for the recommendation!!!

I can't believe that in only 3 months time ... he'll ... be ... a ... toddler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eek!!!!! The time has flown by so fast and it's all been so incredibly amazing. We just love our little man and can never seem to get enough of him.
David was being a stinker ... it's the best shot I got!!

*UPDATE: After checking out volume of milk produced at night, Dr. Yu said he's not concerned with how much David is getting and to continue on as normal. Yea!!!!!*

Buffs in the NIT - both Men's and Women's!!

Although the Men's team got snubbed to make the NCAA tourney for a few random teams ... they got a #1 seed in the NIT and WON!!! The women also won their first round game!! Tonight ... the Men's team plays Cal in Boulder tonight (Grandma and Grandpa Price will be there to cheer them on) and we can't wait to see them go all the way and prove to the selection committee that they belonged in the BIG DANCE.

GO BUFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A new tooth = ear infection symptoms

David has been yanking on his left ear and sticking his finger in it. A little fussy and sometimes sluggish so we took him to the doctor. Only to discover ... it's simply a new tooth. His ears, nose and throat look perfect. He has a new pearly white tooth coming in next to his top left tooth. I would've known that if only he'd let me into his mouth!!

Even though it meant we had to spend about $75 for the appointment ... at least we know he's ok and healthy!! He weighed in at 19lbs 13oz ... we knew he was getting close to 20lbs!! And he's starting to chunk out a bit so he's only going to be eating more. LOL

Happy Birthday Lucas!!!

David's BFF Lucas turns 1 today!!! He's taught me so much ... I can't wait to be able to chase him around!!!!

Kisses!!!!

David has learned how to pucker up and "kiss". It's actually from "drinking" his pouches of food. All it took was a few times where the taste was sweet and a bit bitter while he was sucking and *smack*. He started laughing the first time he did it ... it was so cute. That was about 2 weeks ago. Now ... he'll "kiss" if you ask him to. And I actually got it on video!!!

David LOVES to stand up ...

David has always enjoyed standing but now he's getting to a point where he will plant his feet on the ground firmly when you try to sit him on his bottom. And he's even starting to pull up to standing by using Mike and I. He's not pulling up on furniture yet but I'm sure that'll come shortly. A while back I bought a GREAT toy at the Parents of Multiple's sale that I attended thanks to Tami Zachary. And needless to say, we like it as much as David does. Since he's able to stand for longer periods of time we pulled it out to have some fun. Go David!!!!

David's first word ...

David has been saying "ca" for about a week now and yesterday I thought I heard him say "car". Then today on our walk with Jaime and Lucas and I thought I was hearing him say it again at the end of the walk. Once we got inside he kept saying it over and over. So I quickly grabbed one of his cars and taped him. I'm so proud!!! Thanks Lucas for teaching David to say "car".

I think his next word is going to be "good" because lately it's been "guh" everything. LOL

YEA DAVID!!!!

Butternut Squash Risotto

Well on a whim I thought I'd give David some of my butternut squash risotto. What do you know ... he LOVES it. Add it to the list of yummies ...

I'm 8 months old now!!

Guess who's 8 months old now and growing like a weed!!?? David just keeps getting more and more playful and adventuresome. He's so close to crawling and he LOVES to stand. He's eating so well and getting more and more fed up with his puree'd baby food. More table foods are being introduced and he's loving it. He really enjoys drinking from his straw sippy cup. He plays really well on his on and at times even pushes you away if he wants to play alone. He likes spending a little bit of time in his piano each day and gets antsy if we don't go for our usual walk. He smiles whenever Lucas and Jaime come over to walk and is really starting to explore Lucas. :)

I haven't weighed him recently but he's likely edging closer to 20lbs. His 9mos clothing is starting to get snug and his 12mos evens seems to be getting perfect. He's even starting to look "skinny" again. Just means he's getting longer. Which means soon enough he'll get chubby again. HAHAHAHA

Next doctors appointment isn't until next month and I'm really curious to see where he's at. He's loving his table foods and his puree's are starting get a bit old for him. He wants to eat/drink whatever we have. Or anyone around him for that matter.

Getting so big ... can't wait for what else is in store with our little man.

Food in David's repertoire ...

David is becoming more and more a fan of the foods that mommy and daddy are eating. He now indulges in turkey and swiss. He even likes gouda (go figure). He likes Annie's Mac and Cheese. He loves pasta. He'll even eat my leftover veggies like broccoli and mushrooms. He likes quesadilla's. He loves eating (and hoarding) bits of pear, mango and peaches. HE LOVES EATING HIS DAILY AFTERNOON SNACK OF BANANA. He likes sharing crackers. And even loves his new straw sippy cup (Nuby style just like Lucas). It's much easier to get his water out than the other one.

Today we're trying cheese ravioli and marinara for lunch. He had a spinach ravioli at Costco last week and ate the whole piece. I didn't even get to try more than a small bite of the sample!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: The marinara was a no go and upset David's tummy even though I only used enough so the ravioli wouldn't stick. Next try a few days later with butter ... MUCH better. But since was just cheese in the ravioli it was too dry for David. I think we're going to have to get the spinach ravioli's. LOL

What a nice surprise!!!!

Mike surprised me by taking David and I to Wente Vineyard for brunch on Sunday to celebrate Valentine's Day!! It was such a gorgeous day out too that we ate on their patio!! After that we did some slow but steady wine tasting at a few places and like normal David was amazing!! He even got to enjoy in the crackers too. LOL!!!

It was such a fun way to spend the day together and we even brought home 2 nice bottles of wine to indulge in sometime in the future.

Thanks for such a great way to celelbrate together!!!

Here's a photo of "mama's love bandit" ...

Changing things up a bit ...

Today Jaime and I walked the same route ... but in the opposite direction. The best part of this is that at the end of our walk we now end up at the big park near my place. Here ... the boys can swing and play on the grass and watch all the other wild and crazy kids!!! They're too cute together ... and it's gotten to a point even where David smiles when Jaime and Lucas show up at our house!!!

Big party weekend

This past weekend was Great Aunt Jo's 90th birthday bash in Tracy. But before that I went to a Pampered Chef party with Jaime and Lucas. It was a late night and of course David refused to fall asleep. He wanted to be in the know. That was all on Saturday. Then on Sunday the Packers played the Steelers in Super Bowl 45. The Packers won (YEA MASON CROSBY)!!!

We went to party with the Merin family in Stockton and had a blast. There were SO MANY people there and David didn't do as well as he normally does. Too much the day before and not a long enough nap before we went. But like normal ... his fussy is still better than most other infant's "good days". So much food and beer on tap ... and the sugary treats the little girls made with their moms ... oh man talk about a food coma. They had all sorts of games to bet or even contests. We didn't even know they had a jersey contest (everyone in attendance had to wear a jeresey of some form). David wore his new Tim Tebow jersey and almost won his category for the little kids. He got beat out by one vote!! And Mike almost won for best adult "favorite athlete" category or something like that. He too just barely got beat out. He had on his 49er Jerry Rice jersey. Me ... I wore my navy blue t-shirt with my orange 7 on it. I had to wear that for the John Elway retirement performance with JDBC (Junior Denver Bronco Cheerleaders) ions ago. We realized that Mike and I were hall of famers and we brought a rookie with us. LOL!!!!

I only wish we'd gotten a few photos ... :(

David discovered his shadow today

It was so cute ... today David truly discovered his shadow and Mike caught it in photos ... enjoy!!

More swinging!!!

David is really loving the swings!!! His face lights up every single time and it's too cute!!!

Today was a big day for Mr. David

Today I put together David's new play station and he LOVED it ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-SFovJHyGc.

Then we headed to the park here in our community to meet up with Nicole and Kaitlyn. We wanted David to swing on the swings for the first time. I set him in, he looked around like "now what?". Then I pushed him and he began to swing. The BIGGEST smile spread all over his face and he LOVED it ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHh9pBe92VE

Oh boy ... first time at the Lafayette Reservoir

I had been wanting to go walk around the Lafayette Reservoir for a while now but didn't feel I was ready for the challenge. It may only by 2.7miles but it's NOT easy. Mike and I went for it this past weekend ... and not just once. We went around TWICE!!! David slept through most of the first lap but seemed to enjoy the second one. Too bad the weather wasn't cooperating too well. Regardless ... I can't wait to do it again!!!

7 Months old

David is growing SO fast it's incredible. He had an appointment for a flu booster and of course got checked out and weighed. He's at 18lbs 4oz and doing well. He's gained a pound in the last month which the nurse and doctor both said was great! Dr. Yu looked him over and said he's progressing really well and not to worry that he's not crawling yet. But I told him that he LOVES sitting up and playing and is getting more and more active. And that I can put him on all fours and now he rocks a little bit while in that position. And of course ... he still stands so well.

Dr. Yu said we can try meats at 8months and we'll see him again at 9months. I can't believe time is flying by so fast. We're already starting to discuss his 1st birthday party!!!

Who knew finger puppets were so funny (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Price!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elGX8bpdr6U

Gimme the spoon!!!

David is now trying to grab the spoon from us while we're feeding him. That's a GREAT sign but it makes feeding him incredibly difficult.

Friday, January 21, 2011

Working on self-feeding!!!

David has these moments when he demands to feed himself. It's hilariour really. Sometimes he'll bat your hand away and then try to take the food. Other times he'll spit out whatever finger food you gave him and try again on his own.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I love driving my "car"!!!

David LOVES the toy that Santa brought him. The best part ... when he goes to Lucas' house to play he can play with the "same" too!!!
